
The Coast Yoga Center was established in 1994 by Vanessa Shribman and is the longest established studio offering Iyengar yoga in Glenelg, Adelaide. Coast Yoga is a friendly and caring community of teachers and students. You can immerse yourself in a wide range of yoga classes, however, we do not teach Bikram (hot yoga).
We also have various health care practitioners who practise from the clinic rooms at the Center. Our Glenelg yoga center aims to support a vibrant community which is guided by yogic principles such as authenticity, generosity and compassion. YinYengar- Deep release. YinYengar is a class designed to release the deep fascia, muscles and ligaments and in so doing release deep tension and stiffness in the body.

About Coast Yoga

Coast Yoga is the Iyengar Yoga Centre south of Adelaide near Brighton. The Centre has been providing Iyengar yoga to Adelaide since 1994. Vanessa Shribman is the director of Coast Yoga and has been accredited as an Iyengar Yoga teacher in Adelaide since 2000. Iyengar yoga is named after BKS Iyengar who is considered the main and most influential proponent of modern yoga.

Our beginners' yoga classes those who have no previous experience of yoga, have done some yoga but have had a significant break or are returning after pregnancy and childbirth. Level II consists of our intermediate yoga classes and is for those who have done at least 6 months of regular yoga. It is recommended that from this level students should be attending classes a minimum of twice a week.

Our official location is The Warehouse, 1-5 Sussex St, Glenelg, South Australia, 5045 but we are very close to the neighbouring suburbs of Seacliff, Brighton and Glenelg. Coast Yoga provides all equipment however many students like to bring their own mat and a bottle of water. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing similar to what you would wear for the gym but without the shoes as yoga is done barefoot.
Beginners Yoga

Beginners' courses introduce you, with a methodical progression, to 25 basic beginners' yoga poses. Iyengar yoga for beginners teaches the fundamentals of alignment of the yoga poses, breath awareness and each class ends with deep relaxation. Many people have done some yoga but still feel that they have not been taught right alignment for the poses.
Intermediate

If you've already enjoyed the benefits of Yoga then our Intermediate Yoga Classes in Adelaide could be right for you. They will enable you to build on your range of poses and improve your core strength. Progression to headstand (modified for students who are unable to take weight on the head). Progression to stronger backbendings which strengthen the spine and mobilise the shoulders as well as relieving anxiety and depression.
