So today, purchased 762 grams lamb rack at $33.00kg from butcher counter at Woolworths Mona Vale. Cost of $25.15. Needed some trimming at home. Astonishingly, the trimmed fat weighed 202 grams, giving a cost of $44.90 per trimmed Kg. Let’s say the bones of the rack accounted for 25% of weight. This means the meat content comprised 420 grams of the total purchase, or $59.87 per kg. Goodbye Woolworths, hello Mona Vale Quality Butcher.
