MTHFR is a big player in the methylation cycle. This cycle is a system that recycles homocysteine and creates SAMe (s-adenosylmethionine), which has enormous consequences. SAMe is is the body's universal methyl donor and is responsible for over 250 enzymatic reactions in the body. Methylation is the process of transferring methyl groups from one place to another, but there are many reasons why these groups can't be passed freely.
