IVF, Advanced maternal age, previous pregnancy losses, diabetes, high blood pressure, epilepsy, lupus, coeliac disease, prior endometriosis, fibroids, recurrent miscarriage, thalassemia, other genetic diseases. The first antenatal visit normally occurs at between 7-10 weeks. Your medical history will be taken and a physical examination is performed.

You may be referred because of an abnormal smear, menstrual problems, pelvic pain, infertility, contraceptive issues, endometriosis, menopause problems, pelvic tumours, vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence to name but a few. Many office gynaecology procedures can be performed at Dr O'Connor's Kogarah surgery.

Ultrasound scans performed by specialised ultrasound services (you will require at least two such ultrasound scans per pregnancy). Hospital accommodation (mostly covered by your Health Fund). If you are not insured then you can elect to pay for private obstetric care at St George Private Hospital. Can range from approximately $1,500 to over $3,000 for involvement in complicated labours that involve epidurals then caesarean sections.
