Often endometriosis is found on and around the pelvic and abdominal organs, including the ovaries. Rarely, the endometrial tissue is found in other parts of the body.
Ovarian Cysts
Report
The ovaries are part of the female reproductive system. They are located on each side of the uterus in the lower abdominal area. Women have two ovaries that produce eggs, as well as the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Sometimes, a fluid-filled sac called a cyst will develop on one of the ovaries.
Cervical Cancer
Report
Cervical cancer is a malignant condition that affects the neck of the womb (uterus). The incidence of cancer of the cervix has declined in Australia due to the success of the Pap Smear screening program. Approximately 400 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer annually in Australia. Cervical cancer may present with abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as bleeding after sexual intercourse.
Colposcopy
Report
Colposcopy is a procedure performed when the screening Pap test is abnormal. Colposcopy allows your gynaecologist to confirm the abnormality found on the Pap smear, and to determine the extent of the abnormality.

It is important to have a colposcopy to ensure that the Pap smear has not missed a more significant abnormality (like cervical cancer), and a colposcopy will allow your gynaecologist to determine the most appropriate treatment for the cervical abnormality detected by the Pap smear test.
