A significant amount of my time in surgical training was spent in Queensland. I was very fortunate to train at a time when there were fewer trainees and a greater volume of available cases. This ensured that I exceeded all the expected training targets set for the first 4 years of the training course.

This first visit is important to confirm all is well with your pregnancy, and then I can arrange any additional investigations that may be required.

Induction of labour has become an ever-increasing fact of life. Regardless of whether you believe social inductions to be good or bad, for some couples, timing of delivery is every bit as important as a medically required induction. Usually contractions will begin slowly, gradually increasing in frequency and strength.

All paints and glues contain solvents which can be absorbed through your lungs or skin. If your house must be painted, try to spend a couple of days staying with family or friends to avoid the worst of the fumes. If you must paint, avoid oil-based paints and make sure that there is plenty of ventilation.

A higher fee is charged when you see me for the first time as extra time is allocated for this visit to obtain a full medical history. The Planning and Management item was introduced by the Federal Government and assists in covering the high overheads of running an obstetric medical practice.

As well as all the usual costs associated with running a business, there are large extra costs such medical indemnity insurance and to support the 24/7 on-call arrangements required to ensure safe, quality obstetric care.Anaesthetist's are separate providers and therefore charge independently for their services which includes pain relief in labour.
