If you have recently returned from overseas in the last 14 days or have flu like symptoms i.e. sore throat, fever, runny nose, cough, pneumonia, shortness of breath please contact our rooms to reschedule your appointment or enquire if you may be eligible for a skype appointment. The Reef Orthopaedic Clinic, in the beautiful city of Cairns, has been established to provide first class Orthopaedic services to the people of Far North Queensland.

Our surgeons are specialised in the treatment of Orthopaedic and Sports Surgery problems and provide a friendly, efficient service from our Florence Street address. We treat a wide range of Orthopaedic problems performing both keyhole (arthroscopic) reconstructive surgery and open, joint replacement surgery (arthroplasty).

Dr Will Bryceson is an internationally trained surgeon who specialises in surgery of the Shoulder, Knee and Foot & Ankle. After completing a medical degree through the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK in 1996, Dr Bryceson left for Australia and spent the early part of his medical training in country Queensland where he gained an affinity for all things Australian and developed his interest in Orthopaedic surgery.

No referral is required for our Acute Injury Clinic, as you will be assessed by one of our GPs first, then your Orthopaedic surgeon. Your referral will be reviewed by our surgeons and sometimes further imaging such as CT or MRI scans will be arranged for you. We will then contact you to arrange an appointment.
Physiotherapy

Reef Orthopaedic Clinic have an in-house Physiotherapy service offering acute musculoskeletal physiotherapy and post operative rehabilitation. Our hours of operation vary, so please call direct on 07 4041 8040 and we will find a suitable time to suit your needs. Fred graduated in the Netherlands in 1995 and then travelled to Switzerland for work and further post graduate training.

Either print out our forms and bring them in with you, or email them to us online using our secure email form. Your details are submitted to our server over a encrypted connection, which then sends an email to our staff.

Yes you can, even on the day of surgery with a small sip of water. Patients with diabetes and those on blood thinning tablets will have special instructions. In general you will be asked to stop medication such as Aspirin or Clopidogrel (Plavix) 10 days prior to surgery and Warfarin 5 days prior to surgery.
