Northern Stars Swim School operates out of 2 locations in the Illawarra: Our Russell Vale and Dapto swim centres are both purpose built indoor swimming pools specifically to run lessons for babies, preschoolers, school aged beginners, mini-squads and adult classes. Our Learn to Swim Program has been designed by a team with over 20 years experience in the learn to swim industry.
We pride ourselves on offering quality swimming lessons which are child-paced whilst being progressive. Our Program caters for babies from 4 months of age through to adult learn to swim lessons. We offer special needs lessons, a mini-squad program and school holiday accelerators. We also offer pool parties, a comprehensive adult aquafitness timetable and times for casual swimming.

Cheryl had a vision of owning her own swim school with daughter Siria, and within the space of 10 weeks they transformed an empty shed in the northern suburbs of Wollongong into a purpose built swim centre offering swimming lessons for babies through to adults, a mini-squad program, aquafit classes and school holiday accelerator programs.
Our Team

Cheryl began swim teaching in 1995 and was soon to develop a passion for teaching babies and toddlers. She taught at a number of swim schools in both NSW & QLD moving into supervisory and management roles. In 2010, Cheryl, along with her daughter Siria and son-in-law, Mal, created Northern Stars Swim School in Wollongong NSW, which experienced rapid growth after opening from 250 - 1400 children per week.

If your child accidentally fell into deep water, would they know how to save themselves? Sadly, drowning is the biggest accidental cause of death for under 5's in Australia. Here at Northern Stars, we are proud of our survival focused program - we teach Survival Skills FIRST to beginners and under 5's.
Community Afloat Program

At Northern Stars Swim School, we are committed to actively supporting our local community in a variety of ways. Our Community Afloat Program brings together all of the initiatives we get involved in within the community. Chloe Saxby is one of our valued little swimmers at Northern Stars, and we are actively involved in the fight to save Chloe from a rare genetic degenerative terminal brain disease called Vanishing White Matter Disease.
Programs

All of our programs are run year-round at our indoor centre in Russell Vale. Our pool is 18m long and heated to a comfortable temperature of 32 degC. Our indoor swim centre in Russell Vale proudly offers a state of the art Ozone Swim water purification system. This environmentally friendly system significantly reduces the amount of chlorine required making it a much gentler in-water experience - and fantastic for children with sensitive skin.
