We understand choosing a Veterinary Clinic is like choosing your family doctor. You need to know that you and your loved ones are being looked after by professionals who have a proven track record in providing the best care for your animals, not only when sick or injured, but also with disease prevention and senior pet programs.
We develop a relationship with our clients and having the same staff employed long term means you know who you are going to see when you ring up or walk through the door. We even see our clients ourselves after hours at the Clinic for those emergencies that pop up, meaning you don't have to travel down to Adelaide to an After Hours Centre.

About Us
Report
This is Jimmy our clinic cat who was with us for 20 years after being handed in as a stray kitten. Many of you would of been familiar with seeing our large ginger cat checking out the patients. Unfortunately he was never a slim Jim as he has worked out how to supplement his meals from hospital cages!
History
Report
Situated about 2 1/2 kms from the centre of Mount Barker in beautiful gum studded rural countryside, Mount Barker Veterinary Clinic was established in 1948. Though initially setup to service the Adelaide Hills Dairy Industry, it has evolved along with the changing land usage from a rural farm practice to a mixed practice of large and small animals mainly now concentrating on small companion animals.
Dogs
Report
We don't shut up shop and refer your pet for the long trip down to Adelaide like all the other practices in the area. For registered Clients of Mt Barker Veterinary Clinic we offer onsite emergency care, 24 hours a day, giving us access to your animals Health records to ensure continuity of care and fast, personal service as well as the convenience of not having to travel down to Adelaide.
Puppy Preschool
Report
Well behaved dogs don't happen by accident. The more time you put into your puppy, the better the relationship you will build with your puppy and the more you will benefit from it. In the early stages of life puppies undergo developmental changes at a very rapid rate! Experts call the most important developmental phase the "critical socialisation period" which begins at around 4 weeks, and ends somewhere between 12 and 16 weeks.
Cats
Report
Cat are not little dogs and there are significant differences from dietary requirements to the diseases they suffer and the drugs used to treat them and how they are metabolise them. Cats are solitary hunters and territorial which means they are strongly bonded to their home environment. This can make coming to the vets very stressful.
