Benalla Veterinary Clinic is a rural mixed animal practice that has been around for over 60 years, dealing with small animal pets (dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets, etc), as well as the larger animals like cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas, donkeys and horses, not to mentions wildlife and the occasional "exotic" zoo animal.

Dr Stephan Miechel, a 1991 Melbourne University honours graduate, initially worked for several years in a dairy practice in Yarram, South Gippsland, then in mixed practice in Wangaratta, followed by various locum positions including Katherine, Northern Territory and in the United Kingdom.

Itemised bills will be provided with every transaction. Accounts are due for settlement at the end of the consultation, the discharge of your pet or upon collection of drugs or products. For surgery and/or hospitalisation of your pet, payment of 50% of the estimated cost is required prior to admission, unless prior arrangement has been made.

Because pets age so rapidly, major health changes can occur in a short amount of time. The risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, heart disease and other serious conditions all increase with age. Today's pets are living longer than ever, chances are that many may experience a potentially serious illness during their lifetime.
Behaviour
Report
Behavioural problems can be due to behavioural causes, medical causes, or indeed both. Our veterinarians will investigate behavioural problems by obtaining a full history and conducting a full clinical examination (your pet may require blood and urine tests to rule out underlying medical conditions) to accurately diagnose a problem.

The quality and care provided by the staff at Benalla Veterinary Clinic can't be overstated enough. They have saved the lives of my beloved pets on more than one occasion. They are there in an emergency without fail or they can be just a reassuring phone call away. I trust nobody else when it comes to the care and treatment of all our animals and thats why we've stayed with Yonnie and Steph for almost 20 years!!

Expensive, doubled the price. I recommend you get the cost before accepting, like going to the dentist you know how much prior to the treatment. A blank screen was signed to accept overnight stay and to be told later that it was a document for up to 600 dollars you were agreeing too. This was never disclosed nor seen. After discussion we were in the fault. Which is untrue. Don't sign there blank screen and get the cost before approving.
Overnight stay no one is there , poor animals must be scared. Ours apparently vomited and they found it in the morning when they started their shift.

As a new resident to the Benalla area our rescue cat decided to put on a health scare the day before Easter holidays. Who to call and where to go???? The staff accommodated an immediate appointment and diligently went over him. So many avenues of attention to detail and care but our cats acting skills continued to the point nothing could be… determined. I think he 🐈 thought a touch of attention was all he wanted. Who knows 🤨. After all the fiasco I would definitely use and trust this lovely team, who most definitely work under the James Herriot Act of Kindness to all creatures

The staff here are absolutely amazing. They have been the primary healthcare for all my dogs over the past 5yrs, and have always shown care & compassion to both patient & own (me) in all situations. The level of care is the lastest & top of the field, which yes does mean price might be higher in some situations then other vets. But for me, the easier & quicker recovery of the animal, it is no question. Now I live 4hrs drive away, but I still choose to make the trip if surgery is needed, as the service, training and skill is the best.

Thank you to the amazing team at BENALLA vet for the caring and amazing care of my 3 fur babies.
I definitely recommend the keyhole dog Spey. My little Tia was up and about within a day and fully recovered… just a few days later. No cone of shame and just a small little wound. Considering she is so tiny (Italian greyhound) it was a blessing.

What an amazing place! After a very bad accident our dog boof needed help straight away. Steph was there ready to help after hours. Not only did he provide surgical care, but he and the staff went above and beyond to keep us up to date. Even with photos and messages. This really reassured us knowing he was being loved and cared for whilst we were not there. Would highly recommend them!!

Laparoscopic surgery for desexing best decision I made for my dog. No cone required and only 2 little stitches in seperate places on her belly. She recovered quickly and was unstoppable when outside playing with her big dog buddy much sooner than would be allowed after normal surgery. I have always paid for the extra bloods etc with any of my pets and the laparoscopic procedure is actually not much more in cost. Great care before, during and follow up. Well worth worth it 😊😊

If you're after people who really have the best interest of you pets and animals, this is the Vet for you. They may not be the cheapest, but they are the best, they show compassion not just for the animals in their care but also for the owners of said animals. They are passionate about their work, from the Vets to the Nurses and administration staff. Your animals will have the best of care at this Veterinary Clinic.

From spot on and speedy diagnosis, to surgical expertise, after hours and post surgical care, we cannot recommend Benalla Veterinary Clinic highly enough. 10 days after a massive surgery and Flossy, our beautiful Australian Cattle Dog has made a remarkable recovery. We thankyou for treating her with such care and attention. Today the stitches came out and it's great to see that cheeky blue dog grin again!

The entire team at Benalla Vet Clinic are awesome. We breed and train Labrador Retrievers and entrust all their health care to Benalla vet. They go above and beyond to help us out and because we have so many dogs they always try to provide us with discounts wherever they can. Their veterinary care is outstanding.
