Rye Veterinary Clinic
Established in 1987, Rye Vet Clinic has been caring for pets of the local community for over 30 years and has been owned and operated by Dr. Jaan Ackland and Dr Rachael Ackland since 2010. We are a small and personal family run clinic delivering high quality health care for the pets of Rye, Blairgowrie, Sorrento, Portsea, Tootgarook, Capel Sound, Rosebud, McCrae and surrounds.

We take great pleasure in developing close relationships with our clients and their pets. We are all pet owners ourselves, so we understand the loyalty, love and enjoyment that furry friends bring into peoples' lives. And what an amazing vet nurse Rachel is, we had two pets put down due to illness within three months, it was devastating, Rachel and Dr Jaan played a major role those days in our healing process.

Desexing
Report
We recommend that pets are neutered unless they are intended to be bred from. Desexing prevents unwanted pregnancies and hence helps reduce the number of abandoned and stray animals euthanased each year. It helps unwanted attention from males and reduces their wandering instincts.

There are health benefits associated with desexing which include reducing the risk of certain cancers and preventing pyometra which is a life threatening infection of the uterus.Desexing can be done from 6 months of age. In female animals this is called a spey and in male animals is called castration.
Dentistry
Report
Dental disease is the build up of plaque and calculus leading to gingivitis, inflammation of the gums and the loss of the supportive structures that hold teeth in place. Not only can it be painful, it can also be associated with other conditions such as heart disease and kidney disease, due to the increased bacteria in the mouth.
