Flea & Parasite Prevention
Report
Fleas: Flea infestations are one of the main causes of dermatitis (skin infection and inflammation) in dogs and cats. They are more annoying than nasty, with their population heightening in the warmer months. We recommend regular flea prevention in conjunction with environmental controls. If you are battling fleas or have any flea concerns please contact us to discuss these issues.
Vaccinations
Report
Vaccinations are important for preventing serious disease in your pet and for reducing its spread in the animal community. At The Avenue Veterinary Clinic we stock a full range of vaccines for cats, dogs and rabbits. We are happy to discuss with you the different vaccines available and help build a specific vaccination program for your pet (depending on your individual circumstances).
Desexing
Report
The Avenue Veterinary Clinic routinely perform desexing procedures for dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits. Appointments are required for this surgical procedure which is performed Monday to Friday. Desexing is an effective way to prevent unwanted pregnancies, health issues and behavioural problems. We generally recommend desexing dogs and cats at 4-6 months of age, as young animals are more likely to recover quickly from the anaesthetic.
Dentistry
Report
Dental disease is a common problem amongst dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits. Dental health care is important for your pet. If left untreated tartar and gingivitis can lead to serious illnesses such as bone, heart, and kidney infections. Maintaining good dental health can be achieved by a variety of methods and we can advise you of the best options for your pet.
