Established in 1896, the Petersham Bowling & Recreation Club (the PBC) is one of the oldest clubs in NSW, with a rich and interesting history. A few years ago the club was snatched from the jaws of property developers intent on building town houses on the site. Now the PBC is a vibrant, dynamic and creative, poker machine-free community club with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The PBC survives on the work of dedicated volunteers and staff and the patronage of the local community and visitors from all over the place. People come because the PBC is a warm and welcoming old club - a bit worn and beaten-up around the edges - but with great food, a family-friendly atmosphere and a growing reputation as a live music venue.

We have 24 taps (plus a handpump!) of independently owned craft beer, ranging from trusty Coopers Pale ale to your local Inner West favourites and sprinkled with some interesting and sometimes fancy limited releases from all around Australia. We have an extensive and interesting range of spirits, again focusing on Australian independents, so whiskey and gin connoisseurs shall not be disappointed!
The Future

With a combination of savings and contributions from State and Federal Government, the Club will be working on some improvements to the exterior. Nothing too drastic, but we will be extending the patio in front of the club and the path on the north end of the top green. This will allow more seating, new sun shades, and a kitchen garden for the bistro.

The PBC is a community club and we see ourselves as part of the local community and the broader global community. As part of that community we believe it is our responsibility to try and reduce our impact on the environment. Since 2006, we have undertaken a range of initiatives to help reduce waste and water usage, increase energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.
