I love to take on challenges in my job and this role can certainly give me that. The best part of my job is when I can see my clients improving their lives and can start seeing them achieve their goals. Open Minds has been running the Awards since its conception in 1996, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations working to reduce stigma and empower those living with mental illness.

Our experienced and qualified Support Workers can help you with shopping, cooking, personal care, and building your skills to maintain your independence. Our experienced specialist staff provide Positive Behaviour Support and improved relationships for people who have complex support needs.

If you're aged 12-25 and you need someone to talk to, our headspace Taringa, Redcliffe or Strathpine teams will provide you with access to health advice, education and employment.Every person has the same human rights irrespective of sexuality, gender identity or intersexuality. We can help you to access LGBTI programs in your local community.
Ndis

For the first time, people with a disability in Australia will get to choose where and how to access their supports. There is a process that the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) follow, to assess the level of funding you will receive and present it to you in a Plan. If you already receive funding support from a Disability program, you will be contacted by the NDIS directly.

A diagnosis of ASD now includes several conditions that were once diagnosed separately - Autism, Asperger's Syndrome and Atypical Autism (Persuasive Development Disorder Not Otherwise Specified - PDDNOS). Autism commonly affects how you or a loved one learns, how they interact with others and how they cope in their surroundings.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is commonly referred to as PTSD and is a particular set of reactions that can develop within people who have experienced a traumatic event which threatened their life or safety or that of those around them. NDIS covers PTSD when it is classified as a psychosocial disability.
