A variety of tests can be used to determine the degree, type and configuration of your individual hearing difficulties. The key hearing test for identifying hearing thresholds and involves listening to frequency specific beeps and whistles (called pure tones)and signalling when you can hear them.

The sounds go via the air, down the ear canal, through the middle ear and to the very delicate cochlea in the inner ear.

You will be required to wear headphones and sit in a soundproof booth. The sounds vary in pitch and loudness with the softest sounds you hear marked on a graph called an Audiogram. Hearing loss levels are then described as either mild, moderate, moderately severe, severe or profound. Hearing checks should always be performed in a controlled environment with calibrated equipment.
Tinnitus Management

Good quality and properly fitted hearing aids can reduce your perception of tinnitus by improving your hearing and reducing the strain of listening.
Ear Cleaning

During your appointment we look into your ear canal using a microscope or headset and remove ear wax using a suction machine. We will demonstrate how the equipment will work and explain what you are going to experience. It may be noisy, or sound like a wind tunnel with some squeaky sounds, but this will only be a short period of time.
