Australian Health Protection Principal Committee and Dental Board of Australia have eased the restrictions on dental services to Level 1. This means that all treatments are now able to be provided. However, if you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, it is still important that you call our reception prior to attending the Dental Pod.

Wisdom teeth-trouble or not
Report
Wisdom teeth often start to cause trouble during eruption in the young adult years. Wisdom teeth pain may be due to the slow process of the teeth coming through the gum. If the gum starts to swell up or prevent sleep, then please seek prompt dental or medical attention. Wisdom teeth may not need to be removed in young adults - these decisions are made on a case by case basis.
Dental Pod and your gum health
Report
At Dental Pod we look for clues in your risk profile to help us to improve your gum health. Bleeding gums, loose teeth, and bad breath might be the result of gum disease.
There are many factors that contribute to gum disease including your overall lifestyle (from stress to sunlight exposure), diet, medication, kidney function, teeth cleaning habits, genetics, teeth arrangement, the contour of your tooth fillings, and the frequency and extent of dental checks and teeth cleans. This is all linked together as a risk profile for gum disease.

Why do we recommend regular dental cleans
Report
Regular cleans are not only to make the teeth look good but also to keep the gums healthy. Plaque is the sticky, colourless film that constantly forms on your teeth. A vast range of bacteria live in plaque and secrete acids that cause tooth decay and irritate gum tissue. We recommend regular cleans not only to make your teeth look better, but to keep the gums healthy.
The Root Cause – Dr Matthew Clougher discusses a recent movie
Report
The movie Root Cause includes some good descriptions of the limitations and pitfalls with root canal treatment. It does also however include many claims that are not based on scientific fact or evidence, and we would question these opinions of the movie. With root canal treatment of a tooth, there are lots of tiny tubules and mini canals that may not be entirely cleaned out, but they are sealed up.
