Following his diverse interest in international issues and law, David studied European Union Law, International Trade Law with Russian and East European Law at the University of Notre Dame Law School, London.

The offender levy is an administrative fee to help pay for law enforcement and administration costs. If you're sentenced in the Supreme, District or Magistrates Court, you need to pay the offender levy. The levy is payable on each sentencing event whether or not a conviction is recorded. The levy is not an order of the court and doesn't form part of any sentence imposed by a judge or magistrate.

Bail is the term applied to the temporary release of an accused person awaiting trial. Bail is sometimes granted on condition that a sum of money (known as a surety) is lodged. This is to guarantee their appearance in Court on a particular date. Bail can only be granted by a bail authority such as a police officer (police bail) or a judge.
