Alto Hotel

Alto Hotel on Bourke is a multi-award-winning boutique apartment hotel in Melbourne's CBD, pioneering sustainable hospitality since its establishment. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in every aspect of our operations, from the use of recycled and carbon-negative materials in our interiors to partnerships with local artisans and environmental organisations. We blend late 19th-century architectural elements with contemporary, eco-conscious design to create a unique urban retreat that reflects Melbourne's vibrant culture. Our accommodations range from compact Petite Queen Studios to spacious 2-bedroom Deluxe Apartments, each designed to provide modern comfort while minimising ecological impact. The hotel's 'green room' lounge offers complimentary locally-sourced espresso coffee and a curated library, complemented by free high-speed internet access throughout the property.

Through initiatives like rooftop beekeeping with Melbourne Rooftop Honey and collaborations with sustainable furniture makers, we actively contribute to local environmental and economic ecosystems. Our central location at 636 Bourke Street provides easy access to Melbourne's cultural attractions while maintaining a tranquil atmosphere through soundproofed windows and thoughtfully designed spaces. We offer flexible accommodation options including kitchen-equipped apartments and accessible facilities, with 24/7 support for guest needs. Our sustainability extends to operational practices, including energy-efficient lighting and water conservation systems, while maintaining the highest standards of comfort and service. With over a decade of hosting guests in this distinctive setting, we continue to innovate in sustainable tourism while preserving the heritage character of our building.
