Premium Yarra Valley Wines & Cellar Door Experiences
Established in 1999, Paynes Rise is a family-owned boutique vineyard and winery nestled in the Upper Yarra Valley. Our journey began with a passion for viticulture and a commitment to crafting small-batch, fruit-driven wines that reflect the unique terroir of our Seville estate. The historic 1860s homestead, once the residence of Seville's first settler Thomas Payne, serves as our cellar door, offering visitors an immersive experience blending heritage, hospitality, and award-winning wines. Our vineyard specialises in cool-climate varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc, nurtured through sustainable practices and minimal-intervention winemaking. Under the guidance of winemaker Franco DAnna, we prioritise balance and purity, ensuring each bottle captures the essence of our vineyard's character. The property also hosts seasonal lunch services, private functions, and wine tastings, allowing guests to connect with the region's history and landscape. Recognised as Best Small Producer at the 2024 Yarra Valley Wine Show, we remain dedicated to quality, authenticity, and sharing our story with visitors. Our team combines decades of local viticultural expertise with a warm, personal approach to hospitality, ensuring every guest feels part of our ongoing journey. From vine to glass, Paynes Rise embodies a philosophy of respect for the land and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

A group of us came to Payne's Rise Winery in Seville as the last stop of our winery tour that day. It was a lovely winery to finish at, and very pretty and scenic as we sat in the sun overlooking the little lake.

The staff are very knowledgeable and attentive for wine tasting and we really enjoyed the experience. The new eating area is wonderful. It's lovely to sit in the spacious sunny area overlooking such a great view. It's a pretty good menu with a generous cheese platter, delicious dips and pizzas. What a shame the pizzas are so sparse with toppings. Inches to spare all around the edges. Bases tasted good but honestly pumpkin is so cheap but we could hardly find it.disappointing.Not worth a return visit.

Had a lovely time here on Saturday. Beautiful seating scattered around the lawn so nothing feels too crowded. Very friendly service. The food was excellent for sharing and I particularly loved the ros for a sunny day.

Yummy wine and pretty views. We saw this on the kid-friendly list but I would say it is not kid-friendly like many of the others we have visited. No balls allowed, a Jenga game was out but told we could not play and signs advising watching your kids at ALL times just give a feel that they're not encouraged here. Gluten free pizza crust was yummy.but GF cookies not so much.
