Diet-Free Me
I'm a non diet dietitian and nutritionist and I support people to heal their relationship with food and their body. I practice Health At Every Size(R) and I believe that all bodies deserve respectful, individualised healthcare. I offer face-to-face sessions at my practice location in Fremantle WA as well as telehealth sessions, so you can choose the option that works best for you.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation. I pay my respects to their past, present and emerging elders. This land always was and always will be Aboriginal land. I work with adolescents and adults who've become disconnected from their body's natural, intuitive way of eating, which includes people with disordered eating or an eating disorder.

Report
I'm Claire, the creator of Diet-Free Me. I'm an Accredited Practising Dietitian from Perth, Western Australia and I'm a mum to two cheeky and snuggly little kiddos. For most of my late teens and early 20s, I was unhappy with my weight. While I never followed any of the popular diets, I definitely had a diet mindset and this lead to some unhealthy eating and exercise behaviours.
My approach
Report
Health at Every Size (R) (incorporating non-diet nutrition) is an evidence-based approach that offers a refreshing alternative to the traditional way of thinking about health. Research tells us that a person's weight isn't actually a good indicator of their current or future health. There's an association between weight and health, but it's not as 'black and white' as we used to think.
Eating disorders
Report
Having an eating disorder is more than being unhappy with your weight or constantly dieting. Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions which can affect people of any age, gender and cultural background. Even more importantly, eating disorders can effect people in a range of body types and sizes - not just thin people.
Weight & body image concerns
Report
All of these questions focus on what someone needs to do, but they miss an important detail: weight isn't a behaviour. Weight may be influenced by behaviours, but it's also largely influenced by things outside our control eg. Because I know that losing weight doesn't work long-term, I take a different approach.
Chronic dieting
Report
Your body is constantly communicating with you to tell you what it needs. When you're cold, you'll shiver or get little goosebumps, and this signals to you that you need to dress warmer. When you need to go to the toilet, you'll notice a full feeling in your bladder. When you're thirsty, your mouth and throat will feel dry and you respond by drinking a glass of water.
