Your Trusted Partner for Psychological Therapy in Brisbane
Founded in 2013, Excel Psychology began as a vision to create a collaborative, supportive space for mental health care. Our practice was established in Brisbane by Francesca Carpenter, who relocated from Far North Queensland to build a team of compassionate professionals dedicated to evidence-based therapy. Over the years, we have expanded our services and locations while maintaining a commitment to individualised care, confidentiality, and fostering growth for clients, staff, and referring practitioners.

Our team of 10 psychologists and three administrative staff work in purpose-designed spaces that promote healing, offering tailored support for diverse mental health needs. We prioritise client confidentiality, adhere to strict ethical standards, and continuously refine our approach to ensure accessible, effective care. Our ethos, symbolised by a sprouting tree, reflects our dedication to progress and uplifting the communities we serve.

Services
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Our psychologists use CBT to develop healthier coping mechanisms tailored to individual needs.
EMDR
EMDR processes traumatic memories using guided eye movements. It reduces emotional distress associated with trauma. Our therapists use EMDR to help clients rewire their brain's response to traumatic experiences for long-term healing.
Couples Counselling
Couples counselling addresses communication issues and emotional misalignment. Our therapists provide a safe space to resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships. We use evidence-based approaches to improve interpersonal dynamics and foster mutual understanding.
ADHD Assessments
ADHD assessments for individuals aged 8+ include comprehensive evaluations and detailed reports. Our process involves initial consultations, testing, and tailored recommendations. Reports support educational accommodations and workplace adjustments for diagnosed individuals.
Schema Therapy
Schema therapy addresses deep-rooted emotional patterns formed in childhood. Our psychologists help clients identify maladaptive schemas and develop healthier coping strategies. This integrative approach combines cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic techniques for lasting change.

Having seen several Psychologists over the last 12 years in order to work through my trauma, Melanie Cormack is by far the most exceptional Mental Health Professional I have worked with. She was able to provide me with tools for healing and effective treatments to work through complex trauma that was taking over my life. Her ability to nurture but also educate during the session is fantastic. Thank you so much Excel Psychology. I will certainly be back to see Melanie if I need support down the track.

I was undecided whether I should 'see someone' about some personal concerns I had in my life. I ended up making an appointment and I'm glad I did. Not only was I able to get the concerns off my chest, but after a few appointments I was armed with better skills and techniques to deal with day to day issues, Excel was the oil to my rusty chain of life, making everything flow much better for me. I would 100% recommend Excel as a genuinely great quality and professional yet friendly psychology resource for your life.

I have worked with many psychologists over the years, but found Francesca Carpenter to be the one that managed to get me back on track and deal with issues with positive results. Her caring and easy to talk to personality certainly made me comfortable to really open up. Her techniques worked wonders and I still practice what she showed me today in all areas in my life. Life is good thanks to the support I got from Francesca.
