Star Bar Caf & Hotel is one of Launceston's most iconic hotels. A long history runs through the Star Bar building, originally constructed from convict brick in the 1800s, the heritage-listed facade has welcomed many a weary traveller. The Star Bar, after extensive renovations, was relaunched in 1991, with Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen opening the night by cooking the very first pizza in the imported Italian wood-fired pizza oven.

We have a extensive wine list that covers most of the major regions around Australia and the World. Our Cocktail list full of the old favourites plus some of our more modern creations and is ever evolving.

We are fortunate to have some amazing produce at our fingertips here in Tasmania and we like to make the most of this wherever possible. We let our chefs use there creativity serving modern Australian cuisine with as much Tasmanian produce as possible whether it be our Kyeema Seafoods pink ling for the fish and chips of our selection of Cape Grim Beef for our Steaks.

We have 12 ensuite rooms at the Star Bar, these vary from single rooms sleeping one person up to our larger co-joined rooms of that can sleep a family of four. Our rooms are neat, tidy and suited to people who might be travelling for work or travellers want a nice central location to explore Launceston and it surrounds, while knowing they have a great restaurant and bar directly below.

Our rooftop bar is fantastic for your private functions or parties, call us to discuss the options available. We cater anything from birthday parties and engagements through to conferences. With your own private bar and ability to have your own live entertainment, the options are endless. When The rooftop bar is not hired out its another great space we like to utilise on a Saturday night in the summer months for our own live music.
