Authentic Yakitori & Japanese Cuisine in Brisbane
Birds Nest was founded by Marie and Emi, hospitality professionals driven to share Japan's yakitori tradition with Australia. After immersive training in Japan under expert yakitori chefs, we spent 12 months refining our approach before opening our first Brisbane location in 2012. Our kitchens combine centuries-old techniques with modern Australian accessibility, using traditional binchotan charcoal for authentic grilling. Each restaurant prepares ingredients fresh daily, offering diverse menus catering to varied dietary needs while maintaining rigorous quality standards. Our team's culinary passion translates into both exceptional dishes and warm, knowledgeable service. With four Brisbane venues now operating, we continue perfecting our balance between Japanese authenticity and local appeal. The distinctive smokiness from our hand-fanned charcoal grilling remains central to every meal. Our menus feature approachable yet authentic dishes, from classic yakitori to contemporary Japanese fusion creations. This commitment to culinary excellence has made Birds Nest a beloved dining destination across multiple locations. We remain dedicated to evolving our offerings while preserving the traditional techniques that define our yakitori experience.

$27 small size sashimi, was so disappointing. Ive never seen this tiny plate for the same price, we even asked how many pieces are coming when we ordered and the staff said it is enough for two people. So disappointed not even nice shashimi.

Birds' nests are a marvel of nature. Twigs and sticks delicately crafted into a sanctuary for the most fragile of cargo. The same skill and artfistry of is evident at Bird's Nest, the restaurant. The quail eggs entre is the perfect example. Bite-sized explosions of flavour, with mustard and soy balancing the rich, creamy yolks. They sat in a sauce that I couldn't resist slurping from the bowl. Pardon the clich, but the wagyu steak really did melt in our mouths. The winner for me was the wombok salad. The crunch of the Chinese cabbage and crispy garlic against the chewy, salty bonito flakes
