Maroba has a 65-year history of providing services to the elderly in the Newcastle and Hunter region. Our team of dedicated professionals offers individualised care that is focused on helping residents stay healthy and happy. While our traditional services such as residential aged care and retirement accommodation remain our focus, Maroba has introduced a range of wellness and support services that are structured to support the older person.
Our Story

Viv Cork, was an Ostler but he also had a dream and a vision to bring about change in the aged care system to provide dignity to older people in care. Viv's vision became a reality in 1954 when together with two other members of Maitland Road Baptist Church they mortgaged their homes to purchase a property and pursue their collective dream of opening an aged care home specifically for elderly widows and spinsters.

Maroba is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who collectively believe in the Vision, Mission and Values that enrich the lives of our residents, their families and the community.

Maroba's facility has been designed with the latest innovative systems and environmentally friendly features. The high ceilings, air-conditioned areas and beautiful internal gardens with cascading waterfalls creates a peaceful living space for our residents to enjoy. Our facility consists of two areas, The Manor which has suites across 4 suburbs and The Lodge which has suites across two suburbs.

Maroba Caring Communities is a long-established aged care facility that has been servicing the elderly in the Newcastle region for over 65 years. Our retirement living complex, Maroba Terrace was opened in 1999 as we saw a need for accommodation that catered for the older independent person that wished to be part of a retirement village community and have the comfort of home, in the knowledge that medical services were readily available.
