The city of Cairns in Tropical North Queensland, was founded in 1876 and named after William Wellington Cairns, Governor of Queensland. It is nestled between a 180 million-year-old rainforest, (the oldest in the world) and the Great Barrier Reef (one of the seven wonders of the world) is 500,000 years young, with geological records indicates that it was formed at least 240 million years ago.
