Moving a Piano Locally: Typically $280 (depending on amount of stairs, 2 steps included, add $20 per extra step). PAYMENT: Cash or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer via Internet Banking). NOTE: If you choose to pay via EFT we need a printout of the Transaction Receipt by the end of the job. Banking details available on request.
Tuning
Report
The Piano Doctor tunes by ear only. The reason for this is that electronic tuning devices only deal with one frequency at a time, whereas music is all about many notes sounding in tune at the same time, as in intervals and harmony. Professional musicians appear to agree with this. A piano played by a concert pianist for 6 to 8 hours per day should be tuned every 3 months.
Adjustment
Report
A piano action is unusually complex and contains over 4000 separate parts. Action adjustment aims to make all parts work correctly together. It takes time to perform these procedures and therefore some cost and skill level is involved. It does not have to be done in one go though. It can be done progressively over a 1-year period, Keyboard Adjustment first, then Hammer and Whippen Adjustment, etc. as specified.
Moving
Report
Michael is a specialist piano mover with extensive experience using high quality equipment. He takes great care and has moved in excess of 1000 upright and grand pianos both locally and in country Victoria. Damage in piano moving is commonplace because of high staff turnover in large furniture moving companies.
Storage
Report
If you have a need for secure storage in a controlled environment, temporarily or longer-term, contact The Piano Doctor. When building or renovating your house it may not be convenient to have the piano in its current position. When moving house you may need your piano stored for a period of time in between relocating.
