Classical Ballet
Our classical ballet program develops technical excellence through Cecchetti and Royal Academy methods. Jazz / Hip Hop

Street Tap

Miss Jackie Thompson
Director and Principal
With a professional dance career spanning ballet and flamenco, Jackie holds Cecchetti Ballet Australia Fellow status and Advanced Certificates from major dance institutions. She has directed this centre for over 40 years while maintaining active teaching roles in adult ballet and elite coaching.
Miss Tara Patfull
Cecchetti Associate
Tara brings 25+ years' teaching experience across all classical levels, holding an Associate Diploma from Cecchetti Ballet Australia. Her expertise spans ballet, jazz, and hip hop, developed through global dance conventions and specialist training in flamenco and contemporary styles.
Miss Lauren Stevens
Cecchetti Associate
Lauren teaches ballet, contemporary, and urban dance styles with specialist hip hop credentials from Los Angeles training programs. Combining performance experience with technical instruction, she also manages music production for the school's classes and performances.

What age groups do you cater for?
We accept students from 3 years old through to adults, with structured programs for preschoolers, school-age children, and adult ballet classes.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa/Mastercard, and internet deposits. Payment plans and early payment discounts are available for term fees.
Do you offer family discounts?
Yes, we provide progressive family discounts for multiple weekly classes, with reductions increasing from $20 for 2 classes up to $420 for 13+ classes per week.
Are there performance opportunities?
Students participate in annual Mid-Year Demonstrations and End-of-Year Concerts at Prince Alfred College Theatre, with competition troupes for dedicated performers.

My daughter has been attending ballet lessons over 2 years in Norwood Ballet Centre and she is always exited to go there each single time. The teachers are all professional, kind, caring and supportive. They are always smiling and nice to talk with and encouraging. My daughter loves them! This term she begins to try Jazz and her big brother also joined in. They had lots of fun. As their parent I could not be more satisfied with the centre. My 4 yo daughter can be shy at times but she really loves dancing and wanted to take classes. Miss Hannah and Miss Tara are both extremely patient people and wonderful teachers. They always take the time to help all of the children to feel comfortable and enjoy their lessons. They have created a nurturing, inclusive and fun environment. Through their gentle encouragement my daughter even got up on stage and participated in a performance which was something that she desperately wanted to do, she was really thrilled about it! We are very happy with Norwood Ballet.

My daughter has been dancing at NBC for nearly 8 years! She loves it there - a warm, inclusive environment that allows the dancers to grow at their own pace. Always welcoming and wishing the best for everyone. I can't speak enough about how good Tara, Lauren and Jackie are with the students and the parents.

My 3 year old has been coming to ballet lessons at Norwood Ballet Centre for just over a year now, and she absolutely adores it here! She is initially reserved and sensitive by nature, and the teachers have been nothing but empathetic, nurturing and supportive, gently building her confidence and bringing out the best in her. They are a positive, well-organised, experienced team who do their jobs very, very well.

My daughter has been attending NBC for over 5 years now and thoroughly loves all the classes she is involved with. I have always had nothing but praise for the professionalism and enthusiasm that the teachers display and this shines through to the students. My daughter has been dancing at Norwood Ballet Centre for over 8 years. The teachers there are very kind, professional, and encouraging. They place students to proper level of classes to accommodate individual capability and keep up students' passion for dance. My daughter has tried and dropped a few things during the past years, but she still dances at Norwood Ballet Centre!
