The term dry needling is used as a short form for myofascial trigger point dry needling. The treatment plan is devised to reduce muscle pain in order to restore the function of the muscles. The procedure is carried out by using a single use sterile fine needle, also known as acupuncture needles, which is then inserted directly into the myofascial trigger points in the affected muscles to release the pressure and the knots formed.
