All Artwork
Report
Australian Aboriginal artwork is inspired from the traditional Dreamtime stories, ceremonies and rituals. Each area has a specific style of painting. At AAIA, we specialise in Aboriginal artwork from the Northern Territory. Within this area there are three distinctive painting styles, including Arnhem Land, desert / central and bark paintings.
Aboriginal Desert Art
Report
Aboriginal desert art is a stunning expression of Aboriginal culture and history. Aboriginal desert art historically was drawn in the sand, and represented a map of the area. There is an incredible amount of symbolism in Aboriginal desert art, as each shape represents a terrain, person or weapon. The art is drawn in a prospective of looking down onto it.
WA Artwork
Report
Paintings from Western Australia (WA artwork) have a unique style. At AAIA we feel very lucky to work with an artist from the Kimberly region. Kimberly is known for it's stunning national parks, like the Bungle Bungle Range, which is the inspiration behind several artworks. Kimberly is also renowned for it's Aboriginal culture, and is one of the locations that organises and runs bush tucker tours.
Large Aboriginal Paintings
Report
Our gallery has a collection of large Aboriginal paintings. These artworks take much longer for artists to create, as much more detail is included. This exquisite detail makes for a greater artistic experience when you examine these pieces of art. Large Aboriginal paintings are rarer due to the amount of time it takes to create, making each piece of art extremely unique.
Artefacts
Report
At AAIA we have a wide range of Aboriginal Artefacts. As with the paintings, these artefacts have an original story and an artist. Each artefact links to the strong heritage and lengthy history of the Aboriginal culture. Below we have some of our Aboriginal Artefacts on show. However in our gallery we have many, many more.
