Patto's Driving School suggest learning the transmission that you're most comfortable with. If your parents only drive automatic and you don't have access to a manual car then it might be a good idea to choose automatic driving lessons. On the other hand, if you've got access to a manual car you should know that a manual driver's licence will allow you to legally drive with either transmission.
