Business Details
Atisha Centre was established in 1981 as a serene Mahayana Buddhist retreat and education hub, nestled in the tranquil bushland of central Victoria near Bendigo. We offer a peaceful sanctuary for those seeking respite from daily life or wishing to explore and practise Buddhism under the guidance of our Spiritual Director, Kyabje Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche. Our resident teacher, Venerable Geshe Rabten, alongside his translator Venerable Lobsang Dorje, delivers in-depth teachings on the Buddhadharma, supported by visiting monks, nuns and guest instructors. The Centre is proudly affiliated with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) and follows the teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Situated near the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion and Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery, we foster spiritual growth through meditation, study and community engagement.
Our programmes are open to all, regardless of faith or background, encouraging wisdom, compassion and personal transformation. We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people as the traditional owners of this land. The Centre thrives on the generosity of volunteers and donors, ensuring our facilities and activities remain accessible. Whether you join our guided meditations, teachings or simply seek quiet reflection, Atisha Centre provides a welcoming space for spiritual development. We also offer accommodation, a Dharma shop and a library to support your journey. Our commitment to transparency, inclusivity and authentic Buddhist practice defines our community spirit.
