I am Dr Benjamin Hewitt. I spent my childhood in Perth and studied medicine at the University of WA graduating in 1994. After completing my basic training, I spent a year In Warwickshire, England as a Orthopaedic Speciality Registrar. Following completion of my fellowship I undertook a Sports Orthopaedic fellowship in Brisbane specialising in knee and shoulder injuries.
I have an ongoing involvement in the orthopaedic management of a number of WA's elite sporting teams. I am happily married and have 3 teenage children. I enjoy participating in sport, particularly swimming. I love to surf, ski and mountain-bike. I am well placed to appreciate sports injuries and also wear and tear on joints as we age.

If you are a new patient, please complete a Patient Information Sheet prior to your appointment. This can be completed at the rooms, filled in online, or downloaded/printed and brought with you to your appointment. After you have received a referral from your doctor, contact our rooms on 08 9322 1990 or through our online enquiry.
Fees and Billing

This will include both the cost your your surgery and any additional out-of-pocket expenses. Your quote will depend on both the type of surgery you require and the type and level of health insurance you have. The pre-surgery financial informed consent will tell you whether there is a gap between the amount your insurance company will cover and the charges incurred by Dr Hewitt.
Hospital Admissions

Dr Hewitt operates at both Hollywood Private Hospital and Bethesda Private Hospital. All patients will receive an estimate for surgery once they have scheduled a surgery date, and they will receive a printed copy of this along with fasting and admission times, and any other information relating to pre / post-surgery care.

Knees are one of the most common joints injured on and off the sporting field. There are often a few clues as to whether or not your injury is serious and you need urgent attention. Was the injury high speed, or involved a lot of violence - twisting while running can do just as much damage as falling off a motorbike.

Dr Ben Hewitt can organise X-rays, CT scans and Ultrasounds in West Perth at the same time as you appointment if required. As with all medical records, your problem is confidential and our practice follows strict guidelines relating to keeping records private. You might think this is a funny question, but I will need to be able to examine the problem area.
