Established in 1986, Breakaway Toowoomba Inc. is a non-profit organisation whose focus is on providing quality respite services to people with a disability, their carers and families. Known originally as Toowoomba and District Respite Care Association, Menukah Services and more recently as Breakaway Toowoomba - We began when a group of parents united to provide a respite service for families in Toowoomba and nearby regions.

We offer support in a variety of areas including social interactions, involvement in community activities, In-home respite, centre based respite, supported independent living, domestic assistance, personal care assistance, daily living assistance and skills development.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) released an updated NDIS Price Guide for 2021-22. In this price guide the NDIS introduced the Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP) to assist providers who meet specific criteria, including registration to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, to continue transforming their businesses in the move towards a more competitive marketplace.
Supported Independent Living

Breakaway's supported independent living provides assistance to those with a disability wanting move into their own home. Our support enables participants to live independently with the assistance of our services where required to manage their home and independence. Our supportive staff will work with participants to achieve their goals and to learn basic day to day tasks including planning meals, paying bills and cleaning.
In-Home Respite

Our In-Home respite option provides caregivers with a much needed short term break by providing support within the comfort of your home environment. In-home respite provides relief for carers allowing them to undertake their daily needs and restore a sense of balance to their life. Having some time to yourself, whether it's a whole weekend or even a few hours, will renew your energy and help you to maintain your personal life and needs.
