Bicheno is located along the Great Eastern Drive on the East Coast of Tasmania. Bicheno Backpackers is an excellent base to explore the surrounding region which includes Freycinet National Park & Wineglass Bay, Bay of Fires, wineries & cellar doors offering everything from wine & beer to fresh seafood.

Fairy Penguins grace our shores each night and Natureworld has a variety of native animals including the Tasmanian Devil. There are miles of white sandy beaches to explore on foot directly in and around Bicheno. Bicheno Backpackers has a 28 bed bunkhouse + four private rooms in a separate building, some with ocean views.

Bicheno Backpackers is located at 11 Morrison St, Bicheno which is just off Burgess St, behind the church. Here you will find the main buildings which include the bunkhouse, a four bedroom house with private rooms (including our only Sea View room) and Reception. The quickest way from Hobart is directly up the Tasman Hwy via the Great Eastern Drive where you will experience rural vistas and panoramic ocean views.

Freycinet National Park is home to dramatic pink granite peaks, secluded bays, white sandy beaches and abundant birdlife and the world famous Wineglass Bay. Natureworld exhibits an award winning collection of native wildlife in a beautiful natural setting. See the Tasmanian Devil. Our protected private Penguin rookery allows you to view these remarkable birds up close and undisturbed in their natural environment.

Cosy. Kitchen is great but beware, the induction stove is a bit picky. You need the right cookware to make it work.

Lovely place! Came here with two of my friends in late 2020, and it was great. The rooms were good, and virtually all facilities were clean and tidy. Great location that's less than 5 minutes from town centre. Not a bad price either.

Overall, I wasn't too happy with it.
Self-made bed
Self bed stripping
Low bunk beds that hit your head
No one at reception
No one at reception to give us keys
Plenty of towels in the kitchen.
Toilets and showers are clean
Difficult to find the power supply in the bathroom
Wifi is pretty good.

Easy online booking (via the hotel's website) same-day for a private double room. My room was actually in a building on another street, about a five minute walk away. Room was clean and everything seemed relatively new. Very clean/new bathroom (shared between three rooms), and access to a large kitchen. Very reasonable price of $75 (for Australia). 10am check-out seemed a bit mean.

We stayed just one night but the place is really beautiful, cozy and clean. The staff was very kind and friendly. Also, the position is very good between the freycinet park and the bay of fires. Definitely recommended

Stayed two nights, best backpackers I've ever seen. Modern bathrooms and kitchen while still keeping an amazing cosey beach vibe. Location is perfect. Really regret only spending two nights I will be back for a longer stay ASAP. Beds are so comfortable and the whole place is very well heated. loved the whole experience words can't do it justice

The room is decent given the price. The window somehow can’t be closed properly. Staffs are very friendly. Bathroom and toilets are all clean. Good enough if you just want to find some place to sleep.

Really good hostel. You sleep in separate small houses with 4-5 rooms. Nice big kitchen and tv. WiFi is not really good, when it gets busy almost not working. And can be noisy in the rooms since they're next to the kitchen and the walls keep out sound good

Great, affordable place. Friendly people and staff, clean and warm. Loved the heater in the room. Nice and toasty for a rainy day. Easy to find as well and conveniently located near a 5 minute walk to an awesome view. Had a wonderful stay here.
