Adult Hand Surgery
Report
The hand is one of the most complex features of the human body. When one or more components of the hand do not function properly, or the hand looks abnormal in some way, the consequences can affect nearly every area of your life. Causes of hand issues can include congenital defects, injuries and trauma to the hand.
Toe to Hand Transfer
Report
Dr Thomas has an area of sub-specialisation and interest in the field of toe to hand transfer. The procedure is used to create a new finger or thumb, which aims to improve hand function and appearance. This procedure enables the toe to perform the role of a thumb/new digit and can allow the thumb to perform a pinch grip.
Dupuytren’s Disease
Report
This progressive condition results when fibrous tissue beneath the skin called the palmar fascia, becomes thickened. With time one or more fingers can become permanently bent towards the palm with this clawing. The ring and little fingers are predominantly affected but it can develop in any finger.
Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy
Report
This Palsy can occur as a result of the birthing process, most commonly when a shoulder becomes lodged while in the birth canal. The large network of nerves that run between the neck and shoulder are known as the Brachial Plexus. It is when nerves are temporarily or permanently damaged that reconstructive surgery may be required in addition to physiotherapy to optimise the arm and hand function in the treatment of Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy.
Breast Augmentation
Report
Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, is one of the top plastic surgery procedures performed today, and can provide highly satisfying results. This procedure entails the use of implants placed into breast tissue to add size and fullness to the bust line. For women that are unhappy or self-conscious about their body contour, breast enlargement surgery can often provide the results they are looking for.
