It all began in 1928 at the land of dark Arctic winters and the midnight sun, when a blacksmith Janne Marttiini decided to establish knife factory to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. With the user in mind, he began to create beautiful, high quality utility articles to be used in the harshest conditions imaginable.

Knives made to be used. The wild mountains, fjords and open seas combined with generations of outdoorsmen are the inspiration for our design. Each knife is designed with a specific task in mind. The purpose of a specific knife may be that it should replace a couple of other tools and be a versatile and multifunctional tool.

The knife industry is a tradition in Solsona that dates back to the sixteenth century. The company Pallares, founded in 1917, is today the only testimony to Solsona's (Spain) renowned knife-making industry. At the beginning of this century, the third generation took over the running of the company.
