John W. Thompson & Son are Master Hand Engravers, with John accumulating over 58 years experience. But the art of engraving has forever been in their family - their ancestor was the famed 18th century hand engraver William Hogarth. John W. Thompson completed a five-year apprenticeship with Messrs William Day (Engravers) Ltd at the Angel, Islington, London, in the 1960s.

At John W. Thompson & Son we still use the same methods to engrave as were used in the Middle Ages. Every design is delicately hand engraved using small engraving chisels. Each scroll and letter is unique in its depth and flourish. Your ring is of course custom, so we will work through designs with you and develop the personalised look that you wish to achieve.
