The Citadel is in the bustling hinterland town of Murwillumbah, between the world-renowned Tweed Coast and heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests within the Tweed hinterland. Mount Warning (Wollumbin) stands prominently as nature's sculpture on the horizon. Murwillumbah is known for reviving itself after fire and flood.
This 100-year-old Citadel has survived these times. After a number of years of private use TheCitadel is again welcoming an audience but revived as a building for The Visual and Performing Arts, drawing from this rich local culture of creativity, and passion for our natural environment. Murwillumbah is surrounded by small villages each with their own unique identity.
