Procedures
Report
Surgical treatment of skin cancers and other skin lesions either in rooms or in hospital. Dr Rowe offers all surgical treatments for skin cancers including BCC, SCC, Melanoma and benign lesions. Skin grafts are done to move skin from one area on the body to another - either following surgical removal of a lesion such as a skin cancer, or to heal a wound caused by trauma or similar misadventure.
Skin Cancer Treatment
Report
Skin cancer is incredibly common in Queensland and Australia, with Queensland having the highest incidence of any state. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and Squamous cell carcinoma are by far the most common diagnoses, but the more serious diagnosis of Melanoma is increasing annually. Dr Rowe treats a great many skin cancers, is well versed in all the current treatment modalities.
Skin Grafts
Report
A skin graft is performed when the defect concerned can not be simply sutured, and a local flap is not available or not suitable. A skin graft is very dependant on the recipient tissue for healing, and can not be done in infected or poorly vascularised areas. Sometimes, a skin graft is done to fill in the "hole" created by raising a skin flap.
Post-Operative
Report
The details of your surgery will be explained during your consultation. Dr Rowe will give you an idea regarding what to expect both in the short and long term after your operation. If you have more than simple local anaesthetic, your anaesthetist, who is arranged by Dr Rowe and usually works routinely with Dr Rowe, will assist with post-operative pain relief and any other supportive treatments required.
