Sleeve Gastrectomy

The Sleeve Gastrectomy, also known as a Gastric Sleeve, is a "restrictive" procedure that limits the amount of food you can eat. A thin vertical sleeve of stomach is created using a surgical stapler. This sleeve will typically hold between 50-150ml, which is about the size of a banana (or 1/10th of a normal stomach).
Gastric Band

A gastric band is a silicone device placed around the upper part of the stomach. It is a tool used to help reduce the amount of food that you are able to eat and to reduce hunger and appetite. This will help with weight loss. Once the Gastric Band is placed, a saline solution (salt water) is then injected into the port to inflate the band, causing restriction.
