Settlers Tavern, or 'The Tav' as it's affectionately referred to by locals, was built as a haven for Margaret River's emerging surf culture in the 1970's. Local legends now rub elbows with a widely eclectic mix of world class winemakers, winery crew, locals and their families and travellers from around the world. Rob and Karen Gough have owned and run Settlers for the past 14 years.
They thought that Margaret River was a very special place and have poured their passions for food, wine and music into the Tav, resulting in a swag of awards including AHA's Best Regional Casual Pub Dining 2018 (Hall of Fame), Gourmet Traveller's Best Wine List WA and Best Listing of WA Wines 2019, WA's Wine List of the Year and Best Listing of a Region's Wine 2018, Top 50 Places to Drink Wine Wineslinger Award 2019, Top 100 Bars Sunday Times, WA Awards of Excellence 2018/2019, Best Pub Restaurant Wine List (Hall of Fame) and Best Regional Hospitality Venue 2018/19 (Hall of Fame).

Settlers prides itself on using the best local seasonal ingredients available. We have strong relationships with local producers, ensuring our produce is the tastiest and freshest available. Sourcing fresh, WA sustainable seafood (including Southern Ocean oysters shucked to order and whole line caught fish) when available, South-West free range chicken and meat, Margaret River free range eggs and local olive oil.

Since 1977, Settlers Tavern has been the home to Margaret River's live music scene. A local, iconic south west venue, "The Tav" has been awarded APRA Music Awards Licencee of the Year (2018) and received Hall of Fame status at the Australian Hospitality Awards (WA) for 'Best Entertainment Venue' three years running (2013 - 15).
