Rae-Line was started by Ray and Mary Vorhauer in 1972 and was known at that time as R.A. Vorhauer Manufacturing. The company was based in a 150 square metre factory in Malvern St. Bayswater in order to be close to their only customer at the time, Kenworth Trucks. The business grew slowly on the back of rising Kenworth build rates as well as an increased customer base.
