About
Report
As a community-based not-for-profit preschool, we welcome, appreciate and depend on your involvement. We value the family and the community as partners in your child's education and hope you and your extended family will become involved in your child's preschool experience.

Walsingham Community Preschool (now Pretty Beach Community Preschool) opened in 1989, when members of the local community obtained an operational grant from the government and secured the rental premises fromnity the local parish. We believe playfulness, fantasy, fun, humour, silliness and occasionally the ridiculous or absurd have a place in our children's service!

Learning environment
Report
We follow the Early Years Learning Framework as per our programming policy. This is Australia's rst national Early Years Learning Framework for early childhood educators. The aim of this document is to extend and enrich children's learning from birth to Five years and through the transition to school.
Literacy learning
Report
Recent research confirms that literacy starts well before children enter school and that the early years of life are the most critical for learning. The literacy understandings and experiences that take place before school age are a key factor in lifelong successful literacy learning.

At Pretty Beach Community Preschool we work in partnership with families, developing an understanding about children's home literacy practices, allowing early childhood staff to support and build on what children already know.Once the educators are familiar with the children's diverse experiences with literacy, they then incorporate these experiences and associated resources into the program.
The building
Report
The building design is guided by its required functionality as a preschool, the desired experience of its future occupants, environmental sustainability, as well as its response to the site, bush surroundings, topography, the sun and the wind. The design intent is to create and nurture an appreciation of the natural environment by its transparency between the inside and outside, form and detail.
