At Ian J.Arthur & Sons, we have the expertise to offer you a full range of services. We will discuss your preferences and assist you in planning an appropriate funeral service.
When Someone Dies

This depends on where the person has died and the cause of death. When someone dies at home and has been under the care of his or her doctor, you should call their doctor first. The doctor will prepare a death certificate. You then need to call your Funeral Director to arrange for your loved one to be transferred into their care.
Arranging your funeral in advance

Some people may feel the need to make sure that all of their wishes regarding a funeral service for themselves are arranged in advance with the Funeral Director. This is a very good idea as it allows the opportunity to ensure your wishes are recorded and it relieves other family members from the burden and worry of making arrangements at the time a death occurs.
Pre-Paid funerals

With a prepaid funeral plan you pay today's price and avoid things like inflation and rising premiums. Pay in instalments or upfront, whatever works for you. A prepaid funeral is also exempt from the Centrelink assets test so it can help you qualify for a pension or part pension. With a prepaid funeral you only pay for the funeral you want.
Registrations of death
Report
When a death occurs in New South Wales, it must be registered with the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages within seven days of burial or cremation. We register the death electronically on behalf of the family or executor. A Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (issued by a doctor or by an order of the Coroner) stating the cause of death must also be supplied when registering the death.
