Richard Watt Optometrist is an independent full-scope optometry practice established in Hervey Bay since 1989. Our practice motto (and Richard's personal mission in life) is Honest, Friendly, Professional. We apply this to every aspect of our practice to provide exceptional service. Come and visit our practice and see the difference for yourself.
We practice full-scope optometry. This means we perform eye examinations, prescribe glasses and contact lenses, perform extensive additional diagnostic services, assist with low vision aids for partially sighted people, offer vision training and other services not available at other local optometry practices.

Our Team
Report
I grew up in Brisbane and graduated optometry in 1981. I've lived and worked in Rockhampton, Emerald and Moree. I moved to Hervey Bay and established my practice in 1989. My special interests in optometry include childrens' vision, diagnosing and co-managing eye disease with ophthalmologists, contact lenses and helping people with low vision who have lost their vision as a result of eye disease.

My motto, Honest, Friendly, Professional is not just a slogan but a way of life in the optometry practice, my family and community life. The core of our service is in providing comprehensive vision care in the consulting rooms.

Did you know that Richard and our team provide vision screening at 12 schools in Hervey Bay EVERY YEAR. All grade 1 and grade 4 are offered FREE screening by Richard Watt Optometrist. Yes FREE, there is no charge for this service and we do not get paid to provide this service. Why do we do this? Because 25% of Australian school children have a vision problem and two-thirds of those children have never had an eye exam.
