At Shine our experienced orthodontists realise that our patients' wishes and goals have to be at the forefront of our treatment plans. Clear Aligners

Gone are the days when you have to wear visible braces on your teeth to correct tooth positioning. Developed in the United States in the late nineties, clear aligners, such as Invisalign, now allows almost invisible straightening of teeth using sets of see-through aligners.
The major benefits - apart from being unobtrusive - is that 1) they are customised to your teeth, 2) they start to work almost straight away, 3) they are more comfortable than conventional braces since they don't use metal brackets or wires that can irritate your mouth and gums, 4) they can be easily removed whenever you need to brush your teeth, or eat and drink and 5) the process generally works faster than traditional treatments using standard braces.

Orthognathic Surgery

Orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery or surgical orthodontics, may be required to correct abnormalities of the jaws and teeth that cannot be addressed using standard non-surgical orthodontic methods alone. Misalignment is not uncommon, and may also be caused by birth defects, facial injury or more frequently genetic or family traits.
Cross-Bite

Cross-bite is a condition where the upper teeth do not 'fit' with the lower teeth when the teeth come together. Cross-bites can be genetic, or caused by unusual development of either the teeth or jaws (or both) when a child is growing, or where there is crowding of the teeth. It can also be caused by excessive thumb sucking, which may lead to changes in palate and tooth misalignment.
Spacing

Spacing is the opposite of crowded teeth, where there are visible and sometimes large gaps between the teeth - sometimes known as 'gapped teeth'. Having extra space between your teeth, or widely spaced teeth / 'gapped teeth' can be caused by a range of factors - small teeth or larger jaw, i.e. your 'genes', or missing teeth.
