House of Fertility & Healing (HOFH) - & its previous incarnation - is the continuation of the first ever pregnancy acupuncture practice established in Sydney. When Sydney's first dedicated pregnancy acupuncturist, the renowned Paddy McBride decided to return home to her New Zealand roots in 2002 she entrusted her thriving practice to Ngaio before leaving.

The originator of House of Fertility & Healing, Ngaio has been a practicing Acupuncturist for over 29yrs and a qualified Chinese herbalist for 19yrs at last count. She has keen clinical interests in working with women toward healthy and pain-free pregnancy, assisting relief of period issues and mid-life transitions.

The short answer? It depends who is giving the acupuncture and how well they were trained. A fully trained acupuncturist has undergone a minimum 4yrs acupuncture training to be a qualified acupuncturist registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) as an acupuncturist.
We suggest you always ask any practitioner who wants to needle you (this even includes other health professionals with important sounding letters after their name and whose main training is in another modality - ie; not acupuncture) what training they have undergone and if it was less than 4yrs training in acupuncture specifically then there is a good chance they may have only undergone brief studies, sometimes only for days or weeks.

Practitioners at House of Fertility & Healing employ treatment* protocols which combine evidence based treatments (the scientifically proven ones) with respect and congruency with the traditional wisdom that we were each trained in. We use only sterile, pre-packaged, single-use disposable needles. Low-level laser therapy may be utilised instead of acupuncture needles for certain conditions.
