Our History
Report
Len Russell Funerals was established in 1979 by Len Russell together with his wife Pam Russell. It was his goal/dream to see a locally owned family funeral firm established in Ipswich. To this end, his dream has now been established for many years. The business is now a 2nd generation family business and is owned and operated by Darren Degen and Bradley Degen, Pam's sons, lifetime residents of Ipswich.
Services
Report
Family preference and tradition often help in this choice, together with knowing the wishes of your loved one. You may wish to have a service at a church followed by a cortege to the cemetery or crematorium where the final committal is held. Alternatively, you may choose to have the complete service at the church, crematorium chapel or the graveside.
When a Death Occurs
Report
A certificate to certify the cause of death must be signed by a doctor or coroner. The family doctor will normally be able to sign the certificate providing he has treated the person during the previous months for a condition that may have caused their death. If the family doctor is unable to sign the certificate, then the coroner will be notified.

Report

During a time of extreme sadness and loss, my family and I are eternally grateful for the compassion, organisation and thoughtfulness of Darren and his team at Len Russell Funerals in preparing the final journey of our beloved sister Marissa.
This is also not the first time that my family has utilised the services of Darren and his team at Len Russell and once again their professionalism and experience was definitely something that our family learnt on during a very difficult time.
Thank Darren & team for treating and caring for our family as if they were one of your own!

Len Russell Funeral Directors were very professional, very courteous and went over and beyond to ensure my family were taken care of throughout such a hard time. They made the process very stress free and made sure the funeral was very sentimental in every way. Could not recommend highly enough.

Truly helpful. When my mum passed unexpectedly we were away on holidays and not sure what to do. My neighbour recommended Len Russell Funerals. Darren and the team at Len Russell Funerals were understanding of our situation and were reassuring that everything would be OK until we could get back. Once we returned we organised a service, Darren was able to recommend venues, funeral celebrant and catering options. Len Russell Funerals was even able to make a photo tribute and service leaflets for mum. Our family can't thank them enough for assisting us.

Dad pre-arranged his funeral a couple of years ago and when he died it was a matter of simply phoning Len Russell Funerals. Darren put together all the details exactly how dad wanted including all the old time songs he wanted. Dad wasn't born in Australia always wanted some of his ashes sent back to England, and this was arranged without a problem. Darren was comforting at one of our most vulnerable times, it was great to know we could rely on him, and I would have no problem in recommending him.

Darren very rude man. Also my loved ones ashes were to be posted to his final resting place (a request he made before he died) Darren had my loved ones ashes for nearly 4 weeks cause he was “too busy” to post them. Disgusting a loved one could not be laid to rest. Your mourning and he just doesn’t have a caring bone in his body for peoples feelings.

Darren's professionalism and thoughtfulness when assisting my parents to pre-plan their funerals was outstanding. He was able to give them peace of mind that their wishes would be honoured. My parents now feel a sense of relief that something so confronting was handled with such expertise and care. Our family is very appreciative of the service that Len Russell Funerals has given us to face the inevitable in years to come with clarity. Thank you Darren.

Can't thank Darren and Andrea from Len Russell Funerals enough. They were understanding and caring to beyond fault. When mum died we were 10 children with 10 different ideas of how to say farewell. Darren listened and incorporated a little bit of everyone, and we said goodbye to mum in a very unique service. Their recommendation of Dawn Louise as a celebrant was terrific, she also understood where each of us was coming from. Centenary Memorial Gardens was the perfect setting also to say farewell. There's a lot to organise in a short time frame and I'm so glad we had the assistance of Len Russell

The unfortunate process of arranging my mother's Funeral and Cremation was made stress free and simple due to the great services received by staff. We were able to organise everything in one meeting that suited all our needs so we could focus on other aspects, organising family from out of area etc.
Highly Recommended by the Brighton Family of Yamanto.
