Although we focus on prevention, inevitably some children will experience tooth decay and some children will come to our surgery for management of existing decay. To ensure your child's dental visit is as pain free as possible and to do quality dental treatment, we recommend routine use of local anaesthetic.

Sometimes tooth decay causes infection inside the tooth or jaw bone. In this situation, it is too late to place a filling and the tooth needs more complex treatment known as pulp therapy. If this is not done, it is likely the tooth will abscess. Apart from potentially causing severe pain, the infection may also damage the new tooth underneath.
