I have over 10 years' experience in the medical administration field, whereby I started as Junior Receptionist, to Supervisor, to Office Manager, and finally Practice Manager. Between Castletown Family Practice and beginning employment at BGMC, I took some time off and had a beautiful baby boy who is now 6, and have recently had a baby girl.

I graduated from University of Queensland in 1994 and came straight to a 40 + degree summer in Townsville. Originally, I only headed north for 1 year; now 21 years on, I haven't left. In 2014, I was enticed to be the Practice Principal at Belgian Gardens Medical Centre, alongside Dr Fleming and some of the staff from Castletown Family Practice.

Children need to be seen at 6 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 12 months, 18 months and 4 years for their milestone check ups and immunisations. We routinely send out reminders about these checks ups. The Government have introduced the No Jab, No Pay legislation, which means centrelink benefits for your children cease, if you are not up to date with your child's vaccinations.

Dr Michelle Vollmerhause is a general practitioner with a special interest in women's health and contraception. She has a Certificate in Family planning and sexual health and further training in Intrauterine device (Mirena) insertions, having worked for Family Planning Qld Townsville. A pre-insertion consultation is required to ensure the Mirena is the right option for your circumstances and then an insertion appointment is arranged.

Here at Belgian Gardens Medical Centre, Dr Martin Carr is our designated Aviation Medical Examiner. Before you make an appointment with Dr Carr, it is a requirement that you have paid your Medical Certificate Application processing fee through the CASA website. If you have not paid this, we are unable to open your file and complete your Application.
